To provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of these players.
Our goal is to afford each player the opportunity to develop to the best of his/her ability in a safe, fun and challenging environment. This is accomplished during weekly training sessions led by licensed/certified and Risk Management cleared coaches using the latest coaching methodologies that are age appropriate. Each age group U12 through high school have specific technical and tactical goals set by our curriculum based on guidance of the U.S. National Team Program. In addition to the scheduled weekly indoor/outdoor sessions, opportunities to participate in “friendlies”, tournaments and other training/travel play are scheduled during the outdoor season. We believe this approach will give each player the greatest likelihood for a successful, rewarding and enjoyable experience that allows the program to improve the overall quality of the player pool and become a significant feeder system to higher level programs at the State, Regional and National levels.
Long Island Junior PDP provides players with opportunities to benefit from:
Structure of LIJSL PDP:
Long Island Junior PDP operates at the local level under the governance and policies of Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association. Long Island PDP teams are selected through open tryouts. Players train on a weekly basis, have scrimmage days and participate in a team camp.
Players are grouped by calendar year. For the 2018-2019 season, there will be PDP teams in the 2009 and 2010 Developmental Program, and 2001, 2002, 2003 ,2004, 2005 , 2006 , 2007 and 2008 age groups. 2018-2019 PDP age groups are based on a January 1 - December 31 calendar year.
